HMD is preparing to unveil its flagship Nokia-branded Android phone next month. The phone maker has started sending media invites to an event in London on August 16th, just days after a Nokia 8 handset leaked. The new Nokia 8 is expected to be unveiled on August 16th, and it will mark the first time a Nokia-branded Android device ships with Carl Zeiss optics. The Nokia 8 is rumored to include a dual-camera system with 13-megapixel sensors and Carl Zeiss optics. The Nokia 8 is also expected to feature a 5.3-inch display (2560 x 1440), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and dual-SIM models. Just a day after the launch of "effective price zero" JioPhone, Reliance Jio has come up with a "Keep me posted" link on its website for the bookings of the new 4G feature phone. Users need to fill their details (name, email and phone number) on the website to initiate the process. Once the process is done, an email notification will be followed to the given email address by "Team Jio" stating, "As we are in the process of fulfilling existing demand, we will contact you at the earliest for booking your slot." The slot timings are divided in two categories - weekday and weekend. For weekdays (Monday to Friday), the timings will be 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. And for weekends (Saturday and Sunday), 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.  JioPhone will come with lifetime free voice calls and 4G data streaming at a price of Rs 1,500, which will be refunded to the users while returning the phone after the completion of 36 months. New Delhi :  The Union Government is contemplating to regulate the functioning of social networking sites to ensure safety of the users' data. The Central Government on Friday told the Supreme Court that it is contemplating to enact regulatory regime for social networking sites or services like Whatsapp, Facebook, Skype and others. The Centre made these submissions before the five-judge Constitution Bench that is hearing WhatsApp privacy policy case. The Centre told that personal data of users is a part of their right to life and it can't be shared freely by telecom providers or any social network sites. JioPhone  made a splash at the Reliance AGM on Friday as Mukesh Ambani took the covers off the long-rumoured 4G feature phone. The handset, introduced as "India ka Smartphone" and launched at an "effective price" of Rs. 0 (though buyers will have to shell out a refundable, upfront deposit of Rs. 1,500 for the device). JioPhone will be crucial for the company in tapping the estimated 50 crore feature phone users who have not been able to join the Jio 4G bandwagon because of the high costs associated with smartphones. Although Reliance Jio launched in India in September, the company's offering has been restricted to smartphone users as it is a 4G only network, and to make calls, a phone has to support the VoLTE technology, which is usually not found on basic phones.
